Sources / Citation Policy
Citations should let readers inspect the evidence supporting an article. They identify the source precisely enough to locate the relevant document and distinguish the source’s statement from editorial interpretation.
Preferred evidence
- Legislation and regulations: the official legal text, with article or section references where relevant.
- Government and policy reporting: regulator publications, official notices and datasets.
- Markets: original reports with publication dates, definitions, methodology and limits.
- Materials and technology: original research, technical evidence and the precise product or formulation tested.
- Companies: official filings or announcements, attributed as company statements.
Linking and attribution
A source link is placed close to the claim it supports where practical. The Sources section identifies principal documents, their issuers and publication dates. Descriptive links lead to the actual document rather than a search-results page.
We quote only what is necessary, identify the speaker or document and preserve the meaning. Quotes must not be invented, and paraphrases must not be presented as direct quotations.
Certification and environmental claims
Coverage identifies the applicable standard, certification scheme, scope and evidence available. A manufacturer’s claim is not the publication’s independent certification. The same caution applies to PFAS and legal-compliance claims: conclusions must be supported by the evidence.
Uncertainty and access limits
Estimates, models and scenarios are labeled. Observed data is kept separate from projections. If a document cannot be accessed, the limitation is recorded rather than implying a full review. A secondary source can provide context but should not conceal an unavailable primary source.
Responsibility and related interests
Degradable Packaging is editorially operated by the Degradable Packaging Editorial Team.
The editorial team manages source review and citation standards, including external contributions. A commercial relationship does not replace source verification.
